New Delhi/ Lucknow: The Apogee on Wednesday conducted a webinar on The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act popularly known as PoSH. The webinar was convened by the Editorial Team. The objective of the webinar was to help the victims to become aware of the procedure of complaint and inquiry and the actions to be taken. The Act enhanced the guidelines given by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in the Vishaka Case, which were in force in lack of enactment.
Definition of Actions as ‘Sexual Harassment’
Under the 2013 enactment, sexual harassment includes “any one or more” of the following “unwelcome acts or behavior” committed directly or by implication:
- The Acts of Physical contact and advances
- Act of demand or request for sexual favours
- Act of Sexually coloured remarks
- Act of Showing pornography
- Any other act of unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature
The Ministry of Women and Child Development published a detailed instances of such behavior of sexual advancements and are popularly referenced as “unwelcomed behavior.”
