Punjab and Haryana High Court imposes 10K fine on wife living in live-in relationship and tries to implicate husband and relatives in false case

The petitioners are live-in couple seeking protection of life and liberty from the hands of private respondents (husband (respondent no.5) and matrimonial family of petitioner).

The Court after perusal of records put forward found that the story propounded by the petitioner does not inspire confidence and seems to be a bundle of lies. The Court also warned the petitioners that if there is no threat perception to the petitioners, the petitioners will be burdened with the cost of at least Rs. 50,000/- on the first hearing of the case.

The Court after going through the petitioners statement and statement of respondent no.5 (the husband) observed that there is no threat perception to the petitioners.

Hence, the Court imposed the fine and on the request of the Counsel for the petitioners for withdrawal of the petition and reduction of cost imposed fine of Rs. 10,000/-.
