Allahabad High Court imposes 25K cost on State counsel for seeking adjournment after wasting Court’s judicial time

The Court on Monday imposed costs in tune of Rs. 25,000/- on respondent State for wasting precious judicial time of Court.
The matter was taken up before the Court and was argued for 10 minutes, the Court had gone through the provisions of the Arms Act as well as the judgments cited by the counsel for the petitioner and noted the arguments for the counsel for the petitioner. The learned Standing Counsel was seeking time to study the matter.
The Court imposed costs of Rs. 25,000/- as the learned Standing Counsel could have taken adjournment as soon as the matter was taken up and not when sufficient precious judicial time was wasted.
Thus, the Court ordered to deposite the cost before the High Court Legal Services Sub-Committee, Lucknow within a week.
The case will be listed next week.
